Tools You’ll Need
- Rolling pin
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Mixing bowl
- Pastry brush
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough (Skip if using store-bought)
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead until smooth (about 8 minutes).
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Preheat Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Roll the Dough
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle (about 10″x16″).
- Keep the thickness about ¼ inch.
4. Add Filling
- Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella across the surface, leaving a ½-inch border.
- Layer the pepperoni over the cheese.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning on top for extra flavor.
5. Roll and Seal
- Carefully roll the dough lengthwise (like a jelly roll), keeping it tight.
- Pinch the edges and ends to seal the log completely.
6. Transfer and Brush
- Place the roll seam-side down on the baking sheet.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the surface for a golden finish.
- Optionally sprinkle grated parmesan on top.
7. Bake
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
