Ingredients:
- Soup Base:
- 2 lbs chicken (bone-in or boneless)
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups water
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Dumplings:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions:
- Prepare the soup:
- In a large pot, cook chicken in broth and water until tender. Remove and shred the meat, discarding bones if used.
- Add vegetables, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pot. Simmer for 10 minutes.
2.Make the dumplings:
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and butter until just combined.
3.Assemble the soup:
- Return shredded chicken to the pot. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the simmering soup. Cover and cook for 10–15 minutes until dumplings are fluffy.
