Ingredients
For the Crust:
- 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
or - 1 batch of homemade pizza dough or buttery pie dough (enough for a bottom and top crust)
For the Filling:
- 1½ cups pizza sauce or marinara
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar (optional)
- ½ cup pepperoni or cooked Italian sausage
- ½ cup diced bell peppers
- ¼ cup sliced black olives
- ½ cup sautéed mushrooms (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste

- Extra cheese for topping
- Crushed red pepper flakes
- Fresh basil after baking
Instructions
- Preheat Oven & Prepare Crust
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate or springform pan.
- Roll out the bottom crust and place it in the pan. Prick the bottom with a fork to avoid bubbling.
- Layer the Filling
- Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom.
- Add a layer of mozzarella cheese.
- Add pepperoni or sausage, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, and more cheese.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Repeat layers until ingredients are used.
- Add the Top Crust (if using)
- Roll out the second crust and lay it over the filling.
- Crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits on top to release steam.
- Optional: Brush the top with egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water) for a golden finish.
- Bake
- Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
