Burger Ramen Recipe: A Fusion Delight

Ingredients

For the Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

For the Ramen Broth:

  • 4 cups beef or chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp miso paste
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated

For Assembly:

  • 2 packs of instant ramen noodles
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced pickles
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Burger Patties:

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
  • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese. Set aside.

2. Make the Ramen Broth:

  • In a large pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking until fragrant.
  • Add beef or chicken broth, water, soy sauce, miso paste, hoisin sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

3. Cook the Ramen Noodles:

  • In a separate pot, cook the instant ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

4. Assemble the Burger Ramen:

  • Divide the cooked ramen noodles among bowls.
  • Ladle the hot broth over the noodles.
  • Place a burger patty with melted cheese on top of each bowl of ramen.
  • Garnish with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and chopped green onions.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

5. Serve and Enjoy:

  • Serve the Burger Ramen hot, allowing each person to mix the burger and noodles together as they eat.
